INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 26, 2013)—Only three players remain active in the $2,500 winner-take-all Show Me The Money contest at Betfair Hollywood Park.
The free challenge, which began May 5 with 1,744 players, requires a participant to choose one horse each racing day – in six designated races – at least 10 minutes prior to the first race. The selected horse must finish first, second or third for a player to continue.
The last player standing receives the cash prize. Should more than one contestant still be alive at the conclusion of racing July 14 – closing day of the Spring/Summer meet – the winner will be decided by a tiebreaker. The first tiebreaker is number of wins.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 26, 2013)—The stakes wins keep coming for jockey Joe Talamo at Betfair Hollywood Park.

Talamo’s streak began May 18 when he won the Fran’s Valentine with Unusual Hottie and the Grade II Marjorie L. Everett Handicap with Open Water, continued May 19 when Iotapa took the Railbird and May 25 with Obviously’s victory in the Grade II American Handicap.
Jockey Quotes
JOE TALAMO, SCHIAPARELLI, Winner: “I saw that other filly (Purim’s Dancer) break in front but we really weren’t going all that fast. I just let mine run her race. We were real fortunate to draw outside. We could just have easily laid second. I really think adding the (ear muffs) on her with the blinkers made a big difference. She’s a different animal right now. She was just cruising with a real good rhythm. Down the lane I kind of stayed after her because I didn’t want her to see anything like she did last time. She’s definitely getting better with age and with every race she runs. The thing is to get her to relax because in the post parade she’s pretty high strung. In the race she’s totally different and very professional.”

Saturday’s feature may have been called the American Handicap, but it was a pair of Europeans who stole the show.

Trainer Mike Mitchell was ecstatic with Obviously’s performance. “He came out of the race great,” beamed Mitchell. “If everything looks good, he’ll go next in the Shoemaker Mile.”
