MIKE SMITH, COZI ROSIE, Winner: “We kind of experimented with her last time out trying to get her to relax. We were on the rail and for a second it looked like she could get through but she had to steady. Today, I moved her a little sooner than I wanted, but it worked out okay. This was another good learning experience for her and I think she’ll move forward in the American Oaks, if that’s where they choose to run her.”
JOEL ROSARIO, CITY TO CITY, Third: “My filly was closer to the pace today, but she was doing it so easy. The other filly just blew by her. You have to give credit to the winner, she was just too good. Maybe we’ll get her next time.”
JOHN SADLER, COZI ROSIE, WINNER: “She had a lot of trouble last time down on the rail. She was in the clear today. We knew she was capable of winning this. It’s always good to win a graded stakes, especially with a filly. We’ll point her for the American Oaks.”
NOTES: Smith has won two of the three graded stakes run through the first eight days of the spring-summer meet…The Hall of Fame rider also won the Inglewood with Gallant Son on April 25….The $250,000 American Oaks, a Grade 1 at 1 ¼ miles, will be run on Saturday, July 3…The win was the first for Smith in the Senorita…Sadler’s only previous victory in the race came with Paula Revere in 1991.
