JOEL ROSARIO, LEROY’S DYNAMEAUX, Winner: “I wasn’t that confident during the race because on the first turn he was trying to get out. Coming to the five-sixteenths he just moved and the other horses were slowing down and I took it from there. He’s a little horse but he’s a good horse and always tries. The trainer told me there was a lot of speed in the race and to make one run. I just took my time and he did the rest.”
ALEX SOLIS, BOGIE, Second: “He ran hard. I just needed a little longer. I thought we had a good chance down the stretch but that other horse was game. On the turn, I was waiting behind a bunch of horses. I wish I could have moved a little early but if I did that, I would have had to go seven wide at the three and a half and I didn’t want to do that. I waited a little longer and he did his thing. He’s such a big horse it takes him a little bit to get going.”
MARK GLATT, LEROY’S DYNAMEAUX, Winner: “We got the pace scenario that we expected. I’m kind of surprised he went off at such a big mutuel because the horse ran extremely well at Golden Gate. He was moved way prematurely and it was his first time around two turns. He had to improve. Whether that would be good enough to win this race remained to be seen. I had a lot of confidence going into the race. That’s the thing, he doesn’t want to get beat. Other horses may be more talented than him, but he wants to get it and that will win a lot of these races.”
Notes: This was the first time the Rogers had been run at 1 1/16 miles since 1994…The previous 14 renewals had been at one mile…The Rogers was not scheduled in 2009.
