Jockey Quotes

RAFAEL BEJARANO, MOBILIZED, Winner: My horse doesn’t have a good acceleration from the gate but I was just hoping to break good and go nice and easy with him. At the three-eighths another horse came over and knocked the whip out of my hand. I didn’t see who did it, but he was flying and much the best today. He likes this track a lot.”

JOEL ROSARIO, ITALIAN RULES, Second: “He just stumbled. When he broke out of the gate he stumbled and then took a lot of time to get back into it. Sometimes that happens. The winner was very impressive. We probably wouldn’t have beaten him anyway, but it would have been closer.”

Trainer Quotes

GARY MANDELLA, MOBILIZED, Winner: “Big race today. He’s as good now as he ever has been in his life. He’s been training that way ever since he came back from a minor injury he had last year. He split the field in his comeback race and since then he’s trained better than ever even though he’s a 6-year-old. I hope this horse has a little of The Tin Man in him, keep him this way until he’s about eight or so. That would be alright with me. He’s won on the grass and the synthetic, short or long, but I think his forte is the Betfair Hollywood Park main track. He’s most at home on this surface. I’m not sure where we’re going next with him, but we will run a couple of more times here.’’
JOHN SADLER, ITALIAN RULES, Second: “He stumbled coming out of the gate and it took him out of his game because he’s usually up close. He ran a good race from off the pace considering he didn’t get out.”
