RAFAEL BEJARANO, CAMILLE C, Winner: “She kind of stumbled at the break a little bit, but I knew there wasn’t much speed. I just let her go to the lead on the first turn because they were going so slow. She was relaxed the whole way. I think she likes this track better than Santa Anita. I had so much horse at the end. I even think she can go a little bit farther than today.”
MIKE SMITH, LA NEZ, Third: “She had to have bled. It had to be something. I couldn’t ask a 3-5 shot to be in any better position.
MARCELLO POLANCO, CAMILLE C, Winner: “She ran pretty good the other day when she went a mile and an eighth against Grade 2 horses. I think this race proved she can do anything. She’s always trained well, but the last two weeks she’s been training awesome. Actually after her last race we weren’t even thinking about this, but then we said let’s go for the Cal bred race. It’s a good purse, so why not?’’
NOTES: The win was the third in succession for Bejarano in the Melair…He won with Bel Air Sizzle in 2008 and Pretty Unusual a year ago…
