FRANK ALVARADO, SHE’S A TIGER, Winner: “She broke sharp and I just let her go to the lead. I was being patient with her. By the three-eighths I could feel the pressure on the inside and I felt somebody coming on the outside, but I wasn’t worried. I knew what I had.”
MIKE SMITH, E EQUALSMCSQUARED, Second; “I was impressed with her and she has room to grow. That’s always a good sign. She was a little green down the backside with the dirt hitting her in the face. She wanted out. If I could have gotten her to run a little straighter, it would have been a little tighter.’’
RAFAEL BEJARANO, PLEASANT MISS, Third: “I was in perfect position behind (She’s a Tiger), but the horse outside me put a little pressure on me. I had a good trip, the best horse beat me.”
JEFF BONDE, SHE’S A TIGER, Winner: “They went very fast and everybody who tried to chase her paid the price. The horse that ran second (E Equalsmcsquared) came with a good charge late. My filly got tired, but she still ran well. I think she’s a really good horse, I really do.”
ERIC KRULJAC, E EQUALSMCSQUARED, Second: “She had some fast works at Turf Paradise, but the track was really fast and she just wasn’t fit enough to run here the first time and she completely blew the start. They sent her to Lone Star (May 18) and she blew them away (a 7 ¾ length win against $25,000 maidens). The owners are great friends of mine and called and said they kind of want to send her back if I could sell two thirds of her. After the sale she’s back and everyone’s happy. With her pedigree, she probably wants to go longer.”
