INGLEWOOD, Calif. (March 30, 2012)—Haimish Hy, the upset winner of the 2010 Hollywood Derby, will make his first start as a 5-year-old in the $75,000 Sidd Finch Stakes Sunday at Santa Anita.
Scheduled for one mile on turf, the Sidd Finch is the eighth of nine races. Post time is 12:30 p.m. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10:15 a.m. for simulcasts.
Owned by a partnership and trained by Art Sherman, Haimish Hy was nearly 12-1 when he defeated Sebastian Flyte by a neck in the Grade I Derby, rallying from last under jockey Garrett Gomez more than 16 months ago.
A son of Ecton Park and the Equalize mare Tifonica, Haimish Hy has won five of 16 and earned $337,980. Bred in Kentucky by former trainer Bill Currin, the dark bay will be making his initial appearance since finishing fifth in the Grade I Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap last June 11 at Betfair Hollywood Park.
