Jockey Quotes

RAFAEL BEJARANO, BYRAMA, Winner— “This horse has always had one style. She loves to come from behind. I was just hoping to have a good break. She broke unbelievable and sat behind all the speed. Lemon Hero looked like she was in the best spot, so I just followed her. It was pretty easy on her. I know she tried to run a distance a couple of times, but she doesn’t have the same kick as she does sprinting.”

Trainer Quotes

SIMON CALLAGHAN, BYRAMA, Winner: “Putting blinkers on her is something we’ve had in the back of our minds. It’s literally just to help her focus. Backing her up in distance, we figured that was probably the right time to put the blinkers on. Realistically, we’ll look later in the year maybe down the hill at Santa Anita. That might be her optimum distance. She’s got a lot of speed and we’ve always been dropping her in to get the mile, but I think cutting back in distance has helped her. I think we’ll keep her sprinting for the time being.”
