RAFAEL BEJARANO, MEGA DREAM, Winner: “That was unbelievable. The boss (Jeff Bonde) said the only chance you have is to let the speed go and make one big run. I know we had a longshot horse, but you never know. I took hold of her, but they were going slow for those kind of horses. I just tried to get position and follow the favorite (Mizdirection) the whole way. When she moved, I tried to move with her and make sure I was clear when we got to the stretch. I think she has a lot of quality.”
GARRETT GOMEZ, MIZDIRECTION, Second: “Everything was going well. She placed herself well and I thought that any time I wanted to go, I could go. I saw (Joel) Rosario (on Teroda) getting through on the fence and I told her to go. When I told her to go, she lengthened, but she didn’t quicken.”
JEFF BONDE, MEGA DREAM, Winner: “The owners bought her in a mixed sale at Keeneland. She was one of the horses of racing age for sale. They bought her at a decent price ($40,000) and she’s run well for us. In her first race for us (April 13), she caught a couple of tough horses at Oaklawn Park and she ran a similar race like this one today. Since she’s come to Betfair Hollywood Park, she’s had some sizzling works on the main track. I entered her three or four times in an allowance race on Cushion Track and the race didn’t go. I saw this race in the (condition) book, so last week (May 20) I breezed her on turf (five furlongs in 1:01 1/5) and she went really well. I said we’ve got to take a chance here because this might work out.”
