DAVID FLORES, MAJESTIC CITY, Winner: “He was standing a little spread eagle in the gate so (starter) Gary (Brinson) decided to back him out. Sometimes, it’s just best to back them out and get re-set. He went back in and came out nice. The field was very weak and it was just a matter of getting an easy lead and teach him to relax. He was pretty aggressive but then he came back going into the turn and then after that he was more relaxed. There was nobody to battle, so I had to kind of get after him late just to keep his mind busy.”
PETER MILLER, MAJESTIC CITY, Winner: “Relief. It is actually. You think you want to be the favorite, and you do, but at the same time if he runs off the board I’m sneaking out of here. He ran about the way I thought he’d run. I thought he ran about as well as he did the first time, just doing what David asked him to do. The plan is to run him in the ($100,000) Hollywood Juvenile (Championship July 17). I think he’s very good. The way he trains, he just does everything so easily. He’s never been outworked and never had a bad day. He seems to have more in the tank, so we’ll hope so.”
