INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 28, 2013)—Better Lucky, who paid a record $72.20 when capturing the $250,000 Matriarch a year ago, will try to become only the second repeater in race history Sunday at Betfair Hollywood Park.
The race at one mile for older fillies and mares is part of a Grade I grass doubleheader on the final day of the Turf Festival.
In addition to the 32nd renewal of the Matriarch, the 10-race program also includes the $250,000 Hollywood Derby for 3-year-olds at 1 ¼ miles. Post time is 12:30 p.m. and track gates will open at 9:55 a.m. for simulcasts.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 27, 2013)—Clenor, who suffered her first loss in the United States in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, will try to rebound in the $100,000 Miesque Stakes Saturday at Betfair Hollywood Park.
The Miesque is the second of two Grade III races for 2-year-olds on the second day of the annual Turf Festival.
Restricted to fillies, the Miesque is the fourth of 10 races while the Generous goes as the second. Post time Saturday is 12:30 p.m. Track gates will open at 9:55 a.m. for simulcasts.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 24, 2013)—Rousing Sermon gave his connections a sweep of the weekend stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park with a hard fought victory in the $100,750 On Trust Handicap Sunday.
Nearly 24 hours after Tamarando scored for owner-breeders Larry and Marianne Williams, Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and jockey Rafael Bejarano in the Real Quiet, Rousing Sermon earned his second local win with a 1 ¼ length decision over favored Cyclometer.
Kept close to the slow early pace – 23.78 for the opening quarter mile – while in the clear, the 2-1 second choice moved up to engage Cyclometer and Spirit Rules around the turn, then got the best of the 17-10 favorite in the closing yards.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 24, 2013)—Tickets will be
distributed Thanksgiving morning (Thursday, Nov. 28) by the Betfair Hollywood Park stable office staff to licensed horsemen and their families for a complimentary holiday meal in the track kitchen.
Families must be present with the California Horse Racing Board license holder to receive tickets. The license must have a current validation sticker before tickets will be provided at the kitchen to the stable area workers on the list for both themselves and their family.
The meal will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m. Post time at Betfair Hollywood Park Thanksgiving Day is 11 a.m.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 24, 2013)—A close third in the Breeders’ Cup Mile Nov. 2, Silentio will make his Betfair Hollywood Park debut in the $250,000 Citation Handicap Friday.
Scheduled for 1 1/16 miles over the grass, the Grade II kicks off the three-day Turf Festival.
The annual Festival features five graded stakes, headlined by two Grade I events Sunday – the $250,000 Matriarch for fillies and mares at one mile and the Hollywood Derby for 3-year-olds at 1 ¼ miles.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 24, 2013)—Trainer Julio Canani will be the guest of co-hosts Michael Burns and George Ortuzar for the next Escogiendo Ganadores (Picking Winners) session Saturday, Nov. 30.
The Spanish-language handicapping seminar will be offered every Saturday throughout the final Autumn meet, which continues through Sunday, Dec. 22.
A winner of nearly 400 races at Betfair Hollywood Park, Canani will discuss his career with Burns and Ortuzar as well as the Betfair Hollywood Park card, including a pair of Grade III turf stakes for 2-year-olds – the $100,000 Generous and $100,000 Miesque. The latter is restricted to fillies and both are at one mile.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 24, 2013)—The next Hollywood Insider of the final Autumn meet at Betfair Hollywood Park will be held Saturday, Nov.30.
One of the analysts from Television Games Network (TVG) will host Hollywood Insider, which will feature special guests, plus handicapping tips, insights and other last minute information regarding the afternoon’s races.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 23, 2013)—A return to a synthetic track and a quick pace helped propel Tamarando to a decisive victory in the $100,750 Real Quiet Stakes Saturday at Betfair Hollywood Park.
Reserved well off the solid fractions set by 12-1 shot – and eventual third place finisher – Karma King, Tamarando rallied widest of all to collar the leaders with less than an eighth of a mile remaining and drew away to prevail by 3 ¼ lengths.
Ridden for the first time by Rafael Bejarano, the 2-year-old Bertrando colt out of the Dehere mare Tamarack Bay won for the third time in seven starts and pushed his earnings to $355,120. The final time for the 1 1/16 miles over Cushion Track was 1:44.22.
