INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 16, 2013)—Ciao Bella Luna, the upset winner of the Grade II Beaumont Stakes April 14 at Keeneland, will make her Betfair Hollywood Park debut against five other 3-year-old fillies in the $70,000 Railbird Stakes Sunday.
Scheduled for seven furlongs over Cushion Track, the Railbird is the eighth of nine races. Post time Sunday is 1 p.m. Track gates will open at 9:55 a.m. for simulcasts.
Trained by Hall of Famer Jerry Hollendorfer for a partnership that includes breeders Dennis and Carol Yokum’s Car-Den Racing Stable and Greenwood Lodge Farm, Ciao Bella Luna won the Beaumont by 2 ½ lengths at 7-1, rallying from off the pace for her first graded victory.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 15, 2013)—Lady Of Fifty, an easy winner of the Grade II Bayakoa Handicap in her only race over Cushion Track, will return to Betfair Hollywood Park Saturday for the $150,000 Marjorie L. Everett Handicap.
A Grade II for older fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles, the Everett is part of a stakes doubleheader that also includes the $100,000 Fran’s Valentine Stakes, a one mile turf affair for older fillies and mares bred or sired in California. The Everett is the 10th of 11 races while the Fran’s Valentine is the fifth.
In conjunction with the 138th running of the Preakness Stakes, Betfair Hollywood Park will have an early post time of 11 a.m. Saturday. Track gates open at 8 a.m. The first simulcast from Pimlico goes at approximately 8:30 a.m.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 12, 2013)—Heavily-favored Dhaamer remained undefeated over the Betfair Hollywood Park turf course Sunday with another decisive victory in the $73,850 Round Table Handicap.
Winner of the 2012 Round Table by 4 ¼ lengths, Dhaamer, a 6-year-old gelded son of Dubai Destination, repeated by 2 ¼ lengths for his third victory over the local grass.
Trained by Mike Mitchell for Edward J. Brown, Jr. and Jay Manoogian, the Irish bred, who is out of the mare Arjuzah, covered the 1 ½ miles in 2:26.96 under jockey Garrett Gomez.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 12, 2013) — Post time at Betfair Hollywood Park for Saturday’s Preakness Day card will be 11 a.m.
In addition to the 138th running of the Preakness Stakes, Betfair Hollywood Park will simulcast 10 other races from Pimlico.
Track gates will open at 8 a.m. Approximate post time for the first import – Pimlico’s third race – is 8:53 a.m.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 11, 2013)—Charlie Em was successful in her United States debut, upsetting 3-5 favorite Scarlet Strike to win the $100,500 Senorita Stakes Saturday at Betfair Hollywood Park.
Making her first start for trainer Paddy Gallagher after being purchased by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, the 3-year-old daughter of Kheleyf out of the Pivotal mare Miss Meggy held on by a head over Scarlet Strike in the Grade III.
Idle since finishing third in a $25,700 stakes at Hanover in Germany last Nov. 4, Charlie Em, the 9-1 fourth choice in the field of seven, was closest to pacesetter Disko Dasko for most of the trip, gained a slight advantage early in the stretch and went on to the narrow victory under strong handling by jockey Garrett Gomez. It was the third Senorita win for Gomez, whose earlier victories came back-to-back – Fantastic Filly (2001) and Adoration (2002).

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 11, 2013)—Jockey Rafael Bejarano earned the 3,000th victory of his career when 1-2 favorite Ondine won the first race Saturday at Betfair Hollywood Park.
The milestone in the $54,000 allowance came less than 12 years after the 30-year-old native of Arequipa, Peru began his career. He won his first race – aboard his initial mount – Dec. 8, 2001 at Hipodromo de Monterrico in Lima.
A winner of four riding titles at Betfair Hollywood Park, Bejarano is the leading jockey at the current Spring/Summer meet. The 3 ¾ length length win by Ondine, a 3-year-old Medaglia d’Oro filly trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert for Peachtree Stable, was Bejarano’s 16th as he attempts to defend his crown. He ran away with the 2012 Spring/Summer championship, finishing with 74 victories, 25 more than runner-up Edwin Maldonado.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 10, 2013)—Favored Half Strike enabled jockey Rafael Bejarano to close to within one win of a significant milestone when the 4-year-old ridgling won the $54,324 feature (video) Friday at Betfair Hollywood Park.
The leading rider at the current Spring/Summer meet, Bejarano is named on seven horses on Saturday’s card at Betfair Hollywood Park as he seeks his 3,000th career victory.
One of the Peruvian native’s mounts is Scarlet Strike, the 5-2 morning line favorite in the Grade III, $100,000 Senorita Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at one mile on turf.
