INGLEWOOD, Calif. (December 1, 2013)—The next Hollywood Insider of the final Autumn meet at Betfair Hollywood Park will be held Saturday, Dec. 7.
One of the analysts from Television Games Network (TVG) will host Hollywood Insider, which will feature special guests, plus handicapping tips, insights and other last minute information regarding the afternoon’s races.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (December 1, 2013)—Jockey Fernando Perez will be the guest of co-hosts Michael Burns and George Ortuzar for the upcoming Escogiendo Ganadores (Picking Winners) session Saturday, Dec. 7.
The Spanish-language handicapping seminar will be offered every Saturday during the final Autumn meet, which continues through Sunday, Dec. 22.
A former riding champion at Hastings Racecourse in Vancouver and a recent arrival to Southern California, Perez will discuss his career with Burns and Ortuzar as well as the Betfair Hollywood Park card, including the Grade II, $150,000 Bayakoa Stakes and the Grade I, $500,000-guaranteed Hollywood Starlet.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 30, 2013)—Although the tactics were different than those employed in her maiden win Oct. 17, the result was the same for Full Ransom in the $100,250 Miesque Stakes Saturday at Betfair Hollywood Park.
Staying perfect in two starts on grass, the daughter of Full Mandate, who was purchased for $25,000 at the Barretts May sale earlier this year, rallied strongly in the final eighth of a mile to post a 12-1 upset for owner Deron Pearson and trainer Jim Cassidy.
Restricted to fillies, the Miesque was the second of two Grade III races for 2-year-olds on the middle program of the three-day Turf Festival.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 29, 2013)—Silentio was a winner in his Betfair Hollywood Park debut, edging Summer Front in the $250,500 Citation Handicap Friday, the first of five graded stakes over a three-day period during the annual Turf Festival.
Four weeks after finishing a close third behind 2012 Horse of the Year Wise Dan and Za Approval in the Breeders’ Cup Mile, the 4-year-old Silent Name colt won the Grade II by the slimmest of noses over Summer Front, who was making his Southern California debut, with pacesetter Winning Prize three-quarters of a length back in third.
Trained by Gary Mandella for owner-breeders Alain and Gerard Wertheimer, Silentio, the 3-2 favorite, won for the fourth time in 10 starts and completed the 1 1/16 miles over a course labeled good in 1:40.66.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 28, 2013)—There will be a Super High 5 carryover of $20,189 when racing resumes Friday at Betfair Hollywood Park.
The Super High 5, which requires a bettor to correctly select the first five finishers, is offered daily in the final race. Betfair Hollywood Park has a nine-race program Friday as the annual Turf Festival begins with the Grade II, $250,000 Citation Handicap.
Post time at Betfair Hollywood Park is 12:30 p.m. Track gates will open at 9:55 a.m. for simulcasts.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 28, 2013)—Favored Majestic Stride gave trainer Jeff Bonde his second consecutive win in the $100,000 Vernon O. Underwood Stakes Thursday at Betfair Hollywood Park.
After stalking the quick pace (21.86 and 44.35 for the opening half-mile) set by stablemate Anillo, the 4-year-old gelded son of Trippi and the Great Above mare Great Looking Miss took the lead entering the stretch, repelled a challenge from 7-1 shot Color of Courage and went on to prevail by 2 ½ lengths in the Thanksgiving Day feature.
Bonde, who won the Grade III for owners Alan Klein and Phil Lebherz with Smiling Tiger in 2012, became only the third trainer to win the Underwood in consecutive years. Wesley Ward went back-to-back with Men’s Exclusive (2000, 2001) and John Sadler repeated with Frost Free in 1990 after winning with Olympic Prospect in 1989.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 28, 2013)—Better Lucky, who paid a record $72.20 when capturing the $250,000 Matriarch a year ago, will try to become only the second repeater in race history Sunday at Betfair Hollywood Park.
The race at one mile for older fillies and mares is part of a Grade I grass doubleheader on the final day of the Turf Festival.
In addition to the 32nd renewal of the Matriarch, the 10-race program also includes the $250,000 Hollywood Derby for 3-year-olds at 1 ¼ miles. Post time is 12:30 p.m. and track gates will open at 9:55 a.m. for simulcasts.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 27, 2013)—Clenor, who suffered her first loss in the United States in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, will try to rebound in the $100,000 Miesque Stakes Saturday at Betfair Hollywood Park.
The Miesque is the second of two Grade III races for 2-year-olds on the second day of the annual Turf Festival.
Restricted to fillies, the Miesque is the fourth of 10 races while the Generous goes as the second. Post time Saturday is 12:30 p.m. Track gates will open at 9:55 a.m. for simulcasts.
