INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Dec ember 16, 2010)—Amazombie, a four time winner on turf in 2010, will switch to Cushion Track against six opponents in the $75,000-added On Trust Handicap Sunday at Hollywood Park.
An ungraded race for California breds at 7 ½ furlongs, the On Trust is the closing day feature as the 30th Autumn meet wraps. Post time is 12:30 p.m.
Owned by Thomas Sanford and trainer Bill Spawr, Amazombie has won five of 13 with earnings of $185,108. He is 1-for-1 over the Hollywood Park main track. The 4-year-old gelded son of Northern Afleet out of the In Excess mare Wilshe Amaze defeated maidens by a head as the 11-10 choice Dec. 3, 2009.
The most accomplished member of the On Trust field in terms of local victories is The Bat Signal.
Owned by Peter Mizloch and trainer Eric Kruljac, the 4-year-old Gotham City gelding out of the Avenue of Flags mare Flying Honor has earned five of his seven wins over Cushion. The Bat Signal, who has made 18 starts, has banked $201,524.
Cayambe is also a multiple winner on the Hollywood Park main. The 6-year-old Helmsman gelding out of the Restless Con mare Pacaya has three local victories.
Trained by Victor Garcia for Lucky Charm Stable, Cayambe has run nine times over Cushion Track. He’s won nine of 38 overall with a bankroll of $369,976.
Owned by a partnership that includes Blahut Racing LLC and trained by Mike Machowsky, Earnednevergiven comes off his first win over the Hollywood Park main. The 6-year-old gelded son of Cee’s Tizzy and the Falstaff mare Code It Nikki won an optional claimer by one length Nov. 21. The victory was his sixth in 19 attempts and pushed his earnings to $258,720.
Like Earnednevergiven, Mobilized enters off a win. The 4-year-old son of Soul of the Matter won against optional claimers Nov. 25. Out of the Red Ransom mare Valleyofthebells, Mobilized is trained by Gary Mandella for the Estate of Reseigne and Double JH Stables, Inc. The dark bay colt has won four of 14 with earnings of $183,482.
Owned by Johnny Taboada and trained by Genaro Vallejo, Autism Awareness was supplemented for $1,500 to the On Trust. Best known for his 62-1 upset in the 2008 El Camino Real Derby at Bay Meadows, Autism Awareness has won four of 31 and earned $316,637. He has lost nine in a row since winning the Berkeley Handicap, a Grade III, May 25, 2009 at Golden Gate Fields.
Completing the field is A Lil Dumaani. A gray son of Dumaani and the In Excess mare A Lil Excess, A Lil Dumaani has won six of 27 with earnings of $353,325. He is trained by Peter Miller for owners Gary and Cecil Barber.
