INGLEWOOD, Calif. (March 13, 2013)—Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert will be represented by Den’s Legacy, who won the Grade III Generous before finishing third in the CashCall Futurity last Dec. 15 at Betfair Hollywood Park, and Super Ninety Nine, who was second in the Hollywood Prevue last Nov. 22, in the $600,000 Rebel Stakes Saturday at Oaklawn Park.
A Grade II for 3-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles, the Rebel is the 10th of 11 races. Scheduled post time is 3:48 PDT. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10:15 a.m. for simulcasts.
Owned by Westrock Stables LLC, Den’s Legacy has hit the board in eight of 10, including a pair of runner-up finishes in the Sham and Robert B. Lewis in his first two races of 2013. The son of Medaglia d’Oro and the War Chant mare Sunshine Song has banked $321,350 while winning twice.
Super Ninety Nine, who is owned by Tanma Corporation, is already proven at Oaklawn. The Pulpit colt won the Grade III Southwest Stakes by 11 ¼ lengths over a sloppy surface Feb. 18 in his first start at the Hot Springs, Arkansas track.
Out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Exogenetic, Super Ninety Nine has won three of five and banked $266,480.
Baffert is seeking his third Rebel victory in the last four years, having won with Lookin At Lucky in 2010 and The Factor in 2011.
