INGLEWOOD, Calif. (October 18, 2012)—Byrama, who won the Manhattan Beach Stakes June 9 at Betfair Hollywood Park, will try for her fourth victory of 2012 in the $100,000 Senator Ken Maddy Saturday at Santa Anita.
A Grade III for older fillies and mares at about 6 ½ furlongs on turf, the Maddy is the eighth of nine races. Scheduled post time is 4:38 p.m. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10:15 a.m. for simulcasts.
Owned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and trained by Simon Callaghan, Byrama won the Manhattan Beach by a neck as the 7-10 favorite. After failing to win in three subsequent starts, the English bred scored in her return to Santa Anita, capturing the Unzip Me Stakes – which was run at the same distance as the Maddy – by a half-length Sept. 29.
A 3-year-old daughter of Byron and the Darshaan mare Aymara, Byrama has won four of 12 and banked $222,634.
