INGLEWOOD, Calif. (June 21, 2012)—Capital Plan will stretch to the distance of her last win in the $100,000 Beverly Hills Handicap Sunday at Betfair Hollywood Park.

A Grade III at 1 ¼ miles on turf, the Beverly Hills is the eighth of nine races. Post time is 1 p.m. Track gates will open at 9:55 a.m. for simulcasts.

Owned by Mark DeDomenico LLC and Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, Capital Plan won the Grade II Santa Barbara Handicap at 10 furlongs April 21 at Santa Anita.

The 4-year-old Rock Hard Ten filly out of the Strawberry Road mare Miss Dahlia returned to finish third – defeated by one length – by Belle Royale in the Grade I Gamely Stakes May 28 at Betfair Hollywood Park. Capital Plan has won four of 11 and earned $245,800.

Joel Rosario is back aboard Capital Plan on his final day in Southern California before he begins riding regularly at Belmont Park June 27. Rosario is 1-for-2 in collaboration with the Kentucky bred, winning an allowance race over Cushion Track last Dec. 14.

Trained by Jeff Bonde for owners Anthony Bilich, Charles Cline, Dennis Raihill and George Schmitt, Cambina will be trying to end a seven race losing streak. The 4-year-old daughter of Hawk Wing and the Peintre Celebre mare Await has not won since finishing on even terms with Nereid in the Grade I American Oaks last July 16.

The Irish bred, who is 6-for-19 lifetime with a bankroll of $428,426, was most recently fifth in the Gamely, 2 ¾ lengths behind Belle Royale.

For Camille C, a California bred daughter of Roman Dancer and the Rahy mare Paris Operetta, the dry spell is even longer. The 5-year-old is winless in her last 16 races for owner Carlos Polanco and his brother, trainer Marcelo Polanco. Camille C, who has won three of 29 and earned $383,605, collected her last victory in the Melair Stakes April 24, 2010.

Trainer Simon Callaghan, who won this race with Turning Top two years ago, will be represented by Imperialistic Diva in 2012.

Owned by California Horse Racing board member Charles Winner, Imperialistic Diva comes off a nose win in an optional claimer May 31. The Irish bred daughter of Haafhd and the Imperial Ballet mare Imperialistic has won three of 17 and banked $121,699. The 4-year-old has picked up two of her wins over the Betfair Hollywood Park grass.

Quaintly will try her own sex for the first time in the United States after consecutive runner-up efforts against males for owners Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith.

Trained by Patrick Biancone, Quaintly chased Lumberyard Jack in an optional claimer April 20 at Santa Anita, then was defeated by 4 ½ lengths by Dhaamer in the Round Table Handicap May 13. Both of those races were at 1 ½ miles on turf.

A 4-year-old filly by Giant’s Causeway and the Seeking the Gold mare Measure, Quaintly has won two of 13. Her bankroll is $54,142.

Slane Castle will be making her fifth start of the Spring/Summer meet for trainer Robert Leonard and owners Elizabeth and Patrick Everard and Penley Leonard.

A daughter of Castledale out of the Kris S. mare Clean Up, Slane Castle has one win in 13 starts and earnings of $51,140. The 4-year-old has yet to hit the board in seven races on turf.

Brice Blanc has the call on Slane Castle. Should the jockey spring the huge surprise, he would become the first rider to win the Beverly Hills three times in a row. Blanc has won the last two years with the aforementioned Turning Top and Malibu Pier.

From inside out, the field for the Beverly Hills Handicap: Quaintly, Victor Espinoza rides, 113 pounds; Cambina, Garrett Gomez, 118; Slane Castle, Brice Blanc, 110; Capital Plan, Joel Rosario, 118; Imperialistic Diva, Joe Talamo, 113 and Camille C, Martin Garcia, 112.
