INGLEWOOD, Calif. (July 17, 2013)—Cinderella Stakes winner Sprouts will try for her third victory in a row when she faces seven other California bred or sired 2-year-old fillies in the $100,000 California Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Stakes Friday at Del Mar.
Post time at Del Mar is 4 p.m. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10 a.m. for simulcasts.
Owned by breeder J. Paul Reddam’s Reddam Racing LLC and trained by Edward Freeman, Sprouts followed a 5 ½ length maiden victory May 16 with a decisive (3 ½ lengths) score in the Cinderella June 15.
A daughter of Square Eddie and the Yankee Victor mare Ann Summers Gold, Sprouts has earned $92,240 in three starts.
The field includes five other fillies – Pay the Debt, Evening News, Time for Angie, Harlington’s Rose and Smoove It, who is also owned and bred by Reddam – that were maiden winners during the Spring/Summer meet at Betfair Hollywood Park.
