INGLEWOOD, Calif. (April 17, 2012)—A pair of multiple graded stakes winners were among the 88 horses who recorded works over Cushion Track Tuesday morning at Betfair Hollywood Park.
Preparing for a start in the Kentucky Derby May 5 at Churchill Downs, Creative Cause worked five furlongs in 1:01.20.
Fitted in blinkers – which he did not wear when second behind I’ll Have Another in the Santa Anita Derby April 7 – Creative Cause worked the final half mile in 48.60, according to Betfair Hollywood Park clocker and morning line maker Russell Hudak.
Owned by Heinz Steinmann and trained by Mike Harrington, Creative Cause, a gray son of Giant’s Causeway, has won four of eight and earned $869,000.
A first out winner over Cushion Track last July 16, the Kentucky bred has victories in the Grade II San Felipe and Best Pal Stakes and the Grade I Norfolk. He was third behind Hansen and Union Rags in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile last Nov. 5 at Churchill Downs.
Trained by Ron Ellis for Samantha Siegel’s Jay Em Ess Stable, Include Me Out also went five furlongs, covering the distance in 1:01.40.
A 4-year-old daughter of Include, Include Me Out has won consecutive graded stakes, taking the Grade II La Canada Jan. 22 and the Grade I Santa Margarita, upsetting Ellafitz, March 17. She could surface in the $150,000 Milady Handicap May 19 at Betfair Hollywood Park.
A Grade II at 1 1/16 miles over Cushion Track, the Milady is a prep for the Grade I Vanity Handicap June 16.
