Dotsy Jean Bids For Fifth Hollywood Park Turf Win

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (June 27, 2010)-Dotsy Jean, a California bred who has won four of six sprints on the Hollywood Park turf, gets to play her favorite game again in the $60,000 Culver City Stakes Friday night at Hollywood Park.

Post time is 7:05 p.m. At the conclusion of the eight race program, a concert starring Fishbone will begin – approximately 10:30 p.m. – at the North Park Lawn.

General admission is $8 before 10 p.m. and $20 after 10 p.m. There is also $3 beer until 10 p.m. and $2 hot dogs all evening. General parking is free.

Owned by AJM Racing LLC and J B K Stable and trained by Marty Jones, Dotsy Jean has done all of her winning at Hollywood Park at six furlongs, the distance of the Culver City.

A 5-year-old gray daughter of Lit De Justice and the Pentelicus mare Grandjean, Dotsy Jean, who will be ridden by Joel Rosario and carry high weight of 121 pounds, has won nine of 30 and earned $270,463. In her most recent start, the California bred was fourth behind stablemate Unzip Me in the Great Lady M. on May 21.

Dotsy Jean’s opponents Friday include Minute Limit and Porto Marmay, who finished 2-3 in the Great Lady M.

Owned by Gary Barber and Team Valor International and trained by John Sadler, Minute Limit has three wins in 12 attempts and has earned $113,529.

Bred in Ireland by Airlie Stud, Minute Limit is a 4-year-old Pivotal filly out of the Kingmambo mare Magic Cove.

Trained by Julio Canani for owner Marsha Naify, the 5-year-old Choisir mare out of the Nordico mare Nordicolino has won five of 21. Her bankroll is $244,769. In four races on the Hollywood Park grass, Porto Marmay has not been worse than third. Her lone victory locally came in the 2009 Great Lady M.

The field is completed by Expensive Art, a three time turf winner who has been away since finishing eighth of 10 in a $40,000 claimer last Dec. 31, Bonifacio, who won her sole turf start last July 30 at Del Mar, Stanford Dolly and Enumclaw Girl.

A decisive winner in her second start of the meet on June 4, Enumclaw Girl was re-claimed by trainer Mark Glatt for $25,000 for owners Allen and Susan Branch and breeders Doris and John Konecny. Glatt had lost the 5-year-old gray daughter of Katowice and the Wolf Power mare Seattle Seamstress for the same amount on May 29. She has won four of 15 and earned $130,026.
