INGLEWOOD, Calif. (September 24, 2013)—Et Tu Walker, who was voted claimer of the meet during the 2013 Spring/Summer season at Betfair Hollywood Park, will make his graded stakes debut in the $100,000 Eddie D. Friday at Santa Anita.
Scheduled for about 6 ½ furlongs on turf, the Eddie D. – named in honor of Hall of Fame jockey and 2013 Laffit Pincay, Jr. Award winner Eddie Delahoussaye – is the eighth of nine races on the opening day of Santa Anita’s Fall meet. Post time is 1 p.m. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10 a.m. for simulcasts.
Owned by a partnership that includes trainer Doug O’Neill, Et Tu Walker won three of four starts over the BHP turf earlier this year- all at six furlongs. His lone defeat was by a nose to Sirocco Strike July 4.
A 4-year-old son of Shakespeare and the Shadeed mare Inspired Hope, Et Tu Walker, who could have been claimed for $12,500 as recently as February, has won six of 17 and banked $173,750.
The Eddie D. also features the return of multiple graded stakes winner Caracortado.
Trained by breeder Mike Machowsky and owned by a partnership that includes Drew Brees’ Donkey Island Racing, the 6-year-old Cat Dreams gelding has been away since winning the Grade III Daytona Stakes Jan. 8, 2012 at Santa Anita.
