INGLEWOOD, Calif. (April 3, 2013)—Three Betfair Hollywood Park maiden winners are among the nine entrants in the $750,000 Santa Anita Derby Saturday.

A Grade I for 3-year-olds at 1 1/8 miles, the Santa Anita Derby is the ninth of 11 races. Post time Saturday at Santa Anita is 12 Noon. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10:15 a.m. for simulcasts.

Flashback, Hear the Ghost and the California-bred Tiz a Minister all won over Cushion Track before becoming stakes winners over conventional dirt at Santa Anita.

Trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert for owners Gary and Mary West, Flashback, who had graduated by 3 ½ lengths last Dec. 8, romped in the Grade II Robert B. Lewis when stretched out in his second start Feb. 2, then finished second behind Hear the Ghost in the Grade II San Felipe Stakes March 9.

A Ministers Wild Cat colt, Tiz a Minister won a state bred maiden affair in his sixth career outing last Nov. 11, then became a stakes winner when capturing the California Breeders’ Champion Jan. 26. Tiz a Minister is owned by S A Y Racing LLC and trained by Paul Aguirre.
