INGLEWOOD, Calif. (August 22, 2012)—Turbulent Descent, who earned the first Grade I victory of her career in the 2010 Hollywood Starlet, will make her debut for new connections in the $500,000 Ballerina Stakes Friday at Saratoga.
A Grade I for older fillies and mares at seven furlongs, the Ballerina is the ninth of 10 races. Scheduled post time is 2:30 p.m. PDT. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10 a.m. for simulcasts.
A 4-year-old daughter of Congrats and the Forestry mare Roger’s Sue, Turbulent Descent was purchased privately by owners Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith after her 1 ¼ length win in the Desert Stormer Handicap June 17 at Betfair Hollywood Park.
Now in the barn of Todd Pletcher, Turbulent Descent won seven of 11 and banked $901,640 for her former owners and trainer Mike Puype. In addition to the Starlet, the Florida bred earned two other Grade I scores – the Santa Anita Oaks and the Test Stakes at Saratoga. Both of those wins were in 2011 and the latter was at the Ballerina distance.
