INGLEWOOD, Calif. (October 24, 2012)—Charm the Maker, who won the 2011 Sharp Cat Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park, will stretch out again for Hall of Fame trainer Ron McAnally in the $100,000 Autumn Miss Stakes Saturday at Santa Anita.
A Grade III for 3-year-old fillies at one mile on turf, the Autumn Miss is the eighth of nine races. Approximate post time is 4:30 p.m. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10:15 a.m. for simulcasts.
Owned by McAnally’s wife Debbie and bred by the couple in Kentucky, Charm the Maker returned from a layoff of nearly six months with a second place finish in the Unzip Me Stakes Sept. 29.
The daughter of Empire Maker and the Giant’s Causeway mare Charm the Giant finished a half-length behind Byrama in the turf race at about 6 ½ furlongs.
A winner twice in eight starts, Charm the Maker has earned $238,040.
The field of 10 also includes the California bred Best Present Ever, who finished third in the Grade I American Oaks July 14 at Betfair Hollywood Park. Owned by breeders Dennis and Norine Grenier and trained by Eric Kruljac, the Unusual Heat filly out of the Beau Genius mare Centerofattention has won three of nine and banked $205,800.
