INGLEWOOD, Calif. (June 21, 2012)—Glamorista wore down pacesetter Sparkling Style in the final eighth of a mile, giving Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert an exacta sweep in the $58,300 feature Thursday at Betfair Hollywood Park.

The defending Spring/Summer champion, Baffert maintained his lead in the 2012 standings. He has 22 victories through 34 days, leaving him seven clear of runner-up John Sadler.

Owned by Thoroughbred Legends Racing Stable LLC, Glamorista, the 2-1 second choice, tracked her stablemate for most of the journey and inched away late to win by one length.

Ridden by Chantal Sutherland, the 5-year-old daughter of Unbridled’s Song and the Dr. Blum mare Critical Crew won for the third time in attempts. Bred in Kentucky by Gulf Coast Farms LLC and Pollock Farms, Glamorista has earned $113,500.

Now 2-for-3 over Cushion Track, Glamorista covered the 6 ½ furlongs in 1:16.21 and returned $6.40, $3.60 and $3.

Bidding for her third win of the season, Sparkling Style, the 5-2 third choice, wound up 5 ¼ lengths clear of True Way of Grace, the longest shot in the field of five at 28-1. Ridden by Joe Talamo, Sparkling Style paid $3.60 and $3.80. The show price on True Way of Grace was $8.

Orientatious, the 11-10 favorite making her first start since last July 23 at Del Mar, trailed.

The Orientate filly, who had defeated maidens by 4 ¼ lengths as a 3-year-old in her lone previous effort at Betfair Hollywood Park, was well positioned early by leading jockey Rafael Bejarano, made a bid to get closer to the leaders around the turn, but had nothing to give late. Orientatious wound up 7 ¼ lengths behind Gem of Soul.

Racing will resume Friday. Post time is 7:05 p.m. General admission is $10 -$20 after 8:30 p.m.

At the conclusion of the eight race program, a concert starring Jimmy Cliff will begin at the North Park. Approximate start time is 10:30 p.m.

The main event is the $68,000 Tsunami Slew Stakes. The one mile turf race attracted six 3-year-olds, including Tones, Tiz Point, Boat Trip, Chips All In, Unusual Heatwave and Canuletmedowneasy.
