INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 19, 2011)—Up In Time lived up to her name Thursday at Hollywood Park, rallying in the final eighth of a mile to win the $54,672 feature by one length.

The 3-year-old English bred filly was one of six non favorites to score in the Pick 6, so there will be a carryover of $59,009 when racing resumes Friday night. Post time is 7:05 p.m. and the Pick 6 begins in the third race.

In winning for the first time in her third start in the United States, Up In Time saved ground while in front of only one rival early, started to improve her position along the rail, then angled outside the two leaders approaching the wire and was going away at the finish.

Owned by Anthony Ramsden and trained by Simon Callaghan, the daughter of Noverre and the Inchinor mare Up At Dawn was ridden for the first time by Garrett Gomez. She now has two victories in six outings and increased her earnings to $45,576.

In her first appearance at Hollywood Park, Up In Time ran the six furlongs on turf in 1:08.82. She paid $13, $5.40 and $4.20 as the 5-1 second choice in the field of seven.

English Royal, an 11-1 shot, gained the place by a nose over Tenacious Tina after those two did battle for most of the trip. Making her initial start on grass, English Royal returned $10.20 and $7.20. The show price on Tenacious Tina, making her first appearance since last July 16 and first for trainer Doug O’Neill, was $6.60.

Pink Leninade was fourth and she was followed by Candy’s Pleasure, West Ruler, the 3-5 favorite, and Elle Special.

With a victory aboard first race favorite Rollerskates, Rafael Bejarano moved into a tie with Joel Rosario atop the jockey standings. Both riders have 17 victories after 17 days of the Spring/Summer meet. Joe Talamo is third with 14.

At the conclusion of Friday evening’s program – approximately 10:30 p.m. – a concert starring Atomic Punks will begin at the North Park.
