INGLEWOOD, Calif. (August 14, 2013)—Grandeur, who was second in the Grade I Hollywood Derby before winning the Grade II Hollywood Turf Cup during the 2012 Autumn meet at Betfair Hollywood Park, is one of the prime contenders in the Arlington Million Saturday at Arlington Park.
A Grade I for 3-year-olds and upward at 1 ¼ miles on turf, the Million is the 10th of 12 races. Scheduled post time is 3:44 p.m. PDT. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10 a.m. for simulcasts.
Trained by Jeremy Noseda for owner Yvonne Jacques, Grandeur was a troubled second behind Unbridled Command in the Derby last Nov. 25 before defeating older rivals as the 8-5 favorite in the Turf Cup Dec. 15.
A gray gelding by Verglas out of the Desert Sun mare Misskinta, Grandeur has won six of 14 and earned $439,553. In his most recent start in Europe, the Irish bred was second in the Group II SkyBet York Stakes July 27 at York.

The lucrative Saturday program also includes the $750,000 Beverly D. The Grade I for older fillies and mares at 1 3/16 miles on turf will immediately precede the Arlington Million.
Headlining the field of nine is Marketing Mix, who won the Grade I Gamely and Grade III Sunset Handicap – against males – during the 2013 Spring/Summer meet at Betfair Hollywood Park.
Trained by Tom Proctor for Glen Hill Farm, the 5-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, who was second – beaten by a head – in the 2012 Beverly D., and the Kris S. mare Instant Thought, will be ridden by Hall of Famer Gary Stevens.
Marketing Mix will be seeking her 11th win in her 19th start and would go over $2 million in career earnings by finishing first or second Saturday.
