INGLEWOOD, Calif. (August 11, 2011)—Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, whose current stable includes Horse of the Year candidate Blind Luck, will be inducted into Racing’s Hall of Fame Friday in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Hollendorfer, who turned 65 in June, is one of seven inductees, joined by trainer Matthew Byrnes, jockey Shelby Barnes and horses Sky Beauty, Safely Kept, Open Mind and Duke of Magenta.
Hollendorfer, whose graded stakes wins at Hollywood Park include the 2011 Vanity (Blind Luck), 2010 Gamely Stakes (Tuscan Evening), 2008 Californian (Heatseeker) and the 2010 Bayakoa (Washington Bridge), is among the all-time leaders in both wins and purse earnings.
Through Aug. 10, Hollendorfer has 5,990 victories, leaving him fourth behind Dale Baird, Jack Van Berg and King Leatherbury. Horses trained by Hollendorfer have earnings of $123,563,330, placing him seventh all time.
