INGLEWOOD, Calif. (February 13, 2013)—Lady of Fifty and Going for a Spin, both stakes winners during the 2012 Autumn meet at Betfair Hollywood Park, are part of a trio of females Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer will send out in the $200,000 Santa Maria Stakes Saturday at Santa Anita.
A Grade II at 1 1/16 miles, the Santa Maria is the fourth of 10 races. Post time at Santa Anita is 12:30 p.m. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10:15 a.m. for simulcasts.
Owned by Hollendorfer and George Todaro, Lady of Fifty was an impressive winner of the Grade II Bayakoa Handicap over Cushion Track Dec. 8.
A 4-year-old gray daughter of After Market and the Maria’s Mon mare K.D.’s Shady Lady, Lady of Fifty has won six of 12 and earned $329,000.
Bred in California by owners Tommy Town Thoroughbreds LLC, Going for a Spin captured the Cat’s Cradle by 3 ¾ lengths last Nov. 18 at Betfair Hollywood Park.
Successful in an overnight handicap on turf in her 2013 debut Jan. 20 at Santa Anita, the 5-year-old daughter of Ministers Wild Cat and the Mr. Greeley mare Gender Motors has won seven of 28 and banked $333,302.
The last of Hollendorfer’s three entrants is Snow Fall, a War Front mare he trainers for a partnership that includes John Abruzzo. A 5-year-old out of the Caerleon mare Snowflake, Snow Fall has won four of 13 and earned $185,193.
