INGLEWOOD, Calif. (September 1, 2011)—Killer Graces, who won a pair of stakes during Hollywood Park’s Spring-Summer meet, will try to make a bit of history in the $250,000 Del Mar Debutante Saturday at Del Mar.

A Grade I for 2-year-old fillies at seven furlongs, the Debutante is the eighth of 10 races Saturday. Post time is 2 p.m. Track gates at Hollywood Park will open at 10:30 a.m. for simulcasts.

Owned by a partnership and trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, who began September two wins shy of becoming only the fourth trainer in history to record 6,000 victories, Killer Graces followed her victory in the Cinderella Stakes with another come-from-behind win in the Landaluce – which was called the Hollywood Lassie until 1982 – July 16.

If the daughter of Congaree and the Old Trieste mare Heatherdoesntbluff is able to win the Debutante, she will become the first filly since Arewehavingfunyet in 1985 to capture the Landaluce and Debutante.

Seven others have accomplished the double – Fair Molly (1954), Miss Todd (1955), Sally Lee (1957), Khalita (1958), Terlingua (1978), Table Hands (1979) and Landaluce (1980).

Jockey Joe Talamo retains the mount on Killer Graces, who has won two of four and earned $113,530, as she tries to improve upon a sixth place finish in the Grade III Sorrento Stakes. She was beaten by 3 ½ lengths as the 11-10 favorite in her Del Mar debut Aug. 5.

From the inside out, the field for the Del Mar Debutante: Evelyn’s Dancer, Tyler Baze rides, 116 pounds; Coup de Coeur, Joel Rosario, 118; Wild Truffles, Alonso Quinonez, 116; Self Preservation, Patrick Valenzuela, 122; Silent Saga, Victor Espinoza, 118; Weemissfrankie, Rafael Bejarano, 118; Emerald Gold, Garrett Gomez, 118; Killer Graces, Joe Talamo, 122; Woebegon, Martin Pedroza, 118 and Dreamcaster, Martin Garcia, 118.
