INGLEWOOD, Calif. (September 26, 2013)—Marketing Mix and Tiz Flirtatious, who finished a head apart in their last meeting in the Grade I Gamely Stakes May 27 at Betfair Hollywood Park, will renew acquaintances in the $250,000 Rodeo Drive Saturday at Santa Anita.
Scheduled for 1 ¼ miles on turf, the Rodeo Drive is the third of five Grade I races that will be offered Saturday. Restricted to older fillies and mares, the Rodeo Drive is the sixth of 11 races. Post time is 1 p.m. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10:15 a.m. for simulcasts.
Owned by Glen Hill Farm and trained by Tom Proctor, Marketing Mix won both the Gamely and Grade III Sunset Handicap during the Spring/Summer meet.
A Canadian bred daughter of Medaglia d’Oro and the Kris S. mare Instant Thought, the 5-year-old has won 10 of 19 and banked $1,905,893.
Bred in California by owner Pamela Ziebarth, Tiz Flirtatious has won seven of 11. After her narrow loss in the Gamely, the 5-year-old Tizbud mare won the Grade II John C. Mabee Stakes Aug. 11 at Del Mar.
Out of the Victory Gallop mare Masquerade Belle, Tiz Flirtatious, who is trained by Marty Jones, has earned $624,800.
The other Grade I races Saturday are the $250,000 Chandelier for 2-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles, $250,000 Frontrunner for 2-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles, $250,000 Zenyatta for older fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles and $250,000 Awesome Again for older horses at 1 1/8 miles.
