INGLEWOOD, Calif. (April 10, 2013)—Better Lucky, the upset winner of the Grade I Matriarch last Nov. 25 at Betfair Hollywood Park, will make her first start of 2013 in the $300,000 Jenny Wiley Stakes Saturday at Keeneland.

A Grade I for older fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on turf, the Jenny Wiley is the ninth of 12 races. Scheduled post time is 2:05 p.m. PDT. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10:15 a.m. for simulcasts.

Owned by Godolphin Racing LLC Lessee and trained by Tom Albertrani, Better Lucky prevailed by one length at 35-1 in the Matriarch, making her the longest priced winner in the history of the grass event that annually – along with the Hollywood Derby – anchors the final day of the Turf Festival.

A 4-year-old daughter of Ghostzapper, the 2004 Horse of the Year who broke his maiden first time out at Hollywood Park for the late Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel, and the Seeking the Gold mare Sahara Gold, Better Lucky has won four of nine and banked $438,950.

The Wiley field also includes Quiet Oasis, who won both the Grade III Wilshire Handicap and the Grade II Royal Heroine Mile over the Betfair Hollywood Park turf in 2012.

Trained by Ben Cecil for owner J. Paul Reddam, Quiet Oasis, an Irish bred daughter of Oasis Dream and the Sunday Silence mare Silent Heir, has won four of 11. The 5-year-old has earned $280,379.

The Saturday program at Keeneland includes four other graded races – two of them Grade I’s, topped by the $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass for 3-year-olds. Scheduled for 1 1/8 miles over Poly Track, the Blue Grass is one of the final major preps around the country for the Kentucky Derby, which will be run May 4 at Churchill Downs.
