INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 24, 2012)—Mizdirection will try for her fifth win in a row against seven opponents in the $70,000 Great Lady M. Stakes Sunday at Betfair Hollywood Park.

The 18th running of the race at six furlongs on turf is the eighth of nine. Post time is 1 p.m. Track gates will open at 9:55 a.m. for simulcasts.

Trained by Mike Puype for a partnership that includes radio and television personality Jim Rome’s Jungle Racing LLC, Danny Grohs and William Strauss, Mizdirection began her win streak in an optional claimer at the Great Lady M. distance during the Autumn meet at Betfair Hollywood Park last Dec. 4.

Since that 2 ¾ length victory, the gray daughter of Mizzen Mast and the Clever Trick mare Deceptive won the Grade III Monrovia, the Clocker’s Corner Handicap and the Las Cienegas Handicap in succession at Santa Anita.

Bred in Kentucky by Joseph J. Perrotta, the 4-year-old is 6-for-10 with earnings of $360,111. She has two wins and a second in three starts on the local grass.

Broken Dreams, who is also a two time winner on the Betfair Hollywood Park turf, will attempt to better her third place finish in the 2011 Great Lady M.

Owned by breeder Glen Hill Farm and trained by Tom Proctor, the 6-year-old daughter of Broken Vow and the Storm Cat mare Our Dreamer has won five of 17 and earned $257,833.

She was defeated by one length by Givine as the 9-10 favorite in this race a year ago.

First or second in four of five on this turf course, Briecat cuts back for trainer Vladimir Cerin after finishing in a dead heat for second in the Grade III Wilshire Handicap April 29.

Owned by David and Holly Wilson, the 7-year-old daughter of Adcat and the Marlin mare Silk Briefcase has won 10 of 33 and banked $649,799.

Yet to come close in three United States starts, Equitana is another shortening up for Equitana Brazil Stable and trainer A.C. Avila.

A 5-year-old Romarin mare out of the Choctaw Ridge mare Uaisol, Equitana has won six of 15 and earned $115,603. Her last win came in a Group I in her native Brazil May 15, 2011.

A winner of an optional claimer at Oaklawn Park April 13 in her first start for trainer Jeff Bonde, Mega Dream will be making her initial appearance in a turf sprint.

Owned by Barry Arnason, Jerry Durant and Mersad Metanovic, the 5-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro and the St. Jovite mare Dream Away has won three of 10 and has a bankroll of $103,055.

She finished last of nine in her only previous race on grass – a mile turf race last Aug. 20 at Saratoga when trained by Ralph Nicks.

Teroda, who finished a half-length behind Mizdirection in the Las Cienegas – which was taken off the turf and moved to the main track – will be making her grass debut at Betfair Hollywood Park.

Trained by John Sadler for owners Gary and Cecil Barber, the 4-year-old Limehouse filly and the Strawberry Road mare Leza has won three of 11 and earned $160,400.

Dan Hendricks trains Bloemer Girl, a 4-year-old Bertrando filly, for Andrew and Christa. Out of the Tsunami Slew mare Rio Tejo, Bloemer Girl returns to the state where she was bred after four starts in Louisiana and Kentucky. She’s won three of seven and earned $125,585.
