INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 13, 2010)-For the first time since 2007, the winner of the $150,000 Milady Handicap, which will be run for the 59th time on Sunday at Hollywood Park, will not be Zenyatta.

One of five females to win the Milady twice, Zenyatta is skipping the Grade II this year. The undefeated mare will most likely try for her 17th consecutive victory in the $250,000 Vanity Handicap here on June 13.

In Zenyatta’s absence, the Milady, which will be run at 1 1/16 miles and goes as the seventh of nine races, attracted a well matched field of six.

Wynning Ride is the only member of the cast entering after a win.

Owned by Arnold Zetcher LLC and trained by Bob Baffert, Wynning Ride was successful sprinting in her first start of 2010 on April 16 at Santa Anita. The 2 ¼ length win followed a layoff of nearly eight months after she finished seventh in the Alabama, a Grade 1, last Aug. 22 at Saratoga.

Bred in Ontario, Canada by Winsong Farms, the 4-year-old Candy Ride filly and the Mr. Greeley mare Wynyard, has won two of eight while earning $218,108. A victory Sunday would be her first in both a graded stakes and around two turns. She was second behind Laragh in the 2008 Hollywood Starlet at the Milady distance. Martin Garcia has the call and she will carry 115 pounds.

The high weight at 117 is Third Dawn. Trained by John Sadler for owners Ike and Dawn Thrash, the 4-year-old daughter of Sky Mesa and the Quiet American mare Chalmette has won three of 11. In amassing a $233,938 bankroll, Third Dawn has hit the board in a pair of graded races.

In her first start against winners, she finished second, a nose behind Stardom Bound, when 35-1 in the Santa Anita Oaks on March 7, 2009. Three months later, she finished third in the Hollywood Oaks, beaten 2 ½ lengths by Carlsbad.

Fourth in the restricted Santa Lucia Handicap on April 16 at Santa Anita in her first race since Sept. 6 at Del Mar, Third Dawn will be ridden by Joel Rosario.

Second as the favorite in the Santa Lucia, Dance To My Tune will be looking to end a lengthy losing streak in the Milady. Owned by Olympia Star Inc. and trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, the Canadian bred has lost 17 in a row. Her last victory came in the restricted Jammed Lovely Stakes on Nov. 11, 2007 at Woodbine.

Runner-up at nearly 51-1, 1 ¼ lengths behind Zenyatta, in the Santa Margarita Handicap, a Grade 1, on March 13, Dance To My Tune has four wins in 30 starts. A 6-year-old daughter of Stravinsky out of the Forty Niner mare Bandore, Dance To My Tune has earned $495,011. Rafael Bejarano will ride and her impost is 116 pounds.

A 5-year-old Giant’s Causeway mare out of the Seattle Slew mare Laguna Seca, Joffe’s Run will be making her initial appearance in a graded race in the United States. She was unplaced in a Group III in 2007 in England.

Trained by Neil Drysdale for owner Robert S. Evans, Joffe’s Run has won four of 13 and earned $89,291. All of her victories have come at Calder.

Completing the cast are Made For Magic and Miss Silver Brook. Trained by A C Avila for L-Bo Racing and Michael Lamb, Made For Magic has won seven of 32 and banked $207,984. The 5-year-old daughter of Cape Canaveral and the Exploit mare Only Seventeen has won three of 13, including the $50,000 Las Madrinas at Fairplex Park, since being claimed for $16,000 last Aug. 21 at Golden Gate Fields.

A 4-year-old gray daughter of Cozzene and the Turkoman mare Brookdale, Miss Silver Brook has won twice in 13 starts and earned $85,560. She has yet to finish better than fourth for owners Anthony Fanticola and Joe Scardino and trainer Julio Canani in three graded stakes races. In her most recent appearance, Miss Silver Brook was ninth in the La Canada on Feb. 14 at Santa Anita.

From the inside out, here is the field for the $150,000 Milady Handicap: Third Dawn, Joel Rosario rides, 117 pounds; Made For Magic, Omar Berrio, 116; Dance To My Tune, Rafael Bejarano, 116; Wynning Ride, Martin Garcia, 115; Miss Silver Brook, Joe Talamo, 112 and Joffe’s Run, Tyler Baze, 114.
